Commercial scene: actress in a red suit in front of an American suburban home, shot on the LED wall of the XR studio in Erlangen
Reference · Commercial production · XR Studio Erlangen

Commercials for a start-up: many locations, one studio, two shoot days.

A start-up needs commercials that look like a major campaign, on the budget of a small one. That was the brief.

2 shoot days 2 country looks 0 travel days Minutes per set change
The starting point

The challenge.

The spots were set in different residential streets: in front of an English brick terrace, in front of an American suburban home, at different times of day. Produced conventionally, that would have meant a travelling production. Instead, everything was shot at CreativeStudios, the XR studio of CreativeCinema GmbH in Erlangen, Germany.

Backdrops

Many backdrops

Every spot is set somewhere else. Several houses, several country looks, different light.

Timing

A tight timeline

Only a few weeks between sign-off and campaign launch. No room for location scouting, permits or travel days.

Budget

A tight budget

No money for location fees, transfers, hotels or a weather backup day.

Message

Clear communication

The product benefit had to land within seconds. The backdrop was not allowed to distract from it.

How it was produced

Set change at the push of a button.

CLIP One chair, one real foreground, changing houses: brick terrace, town villa, half-timbered, US suburb, rain at the end. Nothing was rebuilt between them.

The houses ran as photorealistic environments on the LED wall. In front of it stood a real set: lawn, planting, paving slabs, a low wall, a few props.

That real foreground makes the difference. It ties the actors to the virtual background, and the transition disappears in the image. And the actors have something real to move in.

Switching from the English terrace to the American suburban home took minutes instead of a travel day. Camera, lighting and sound stayed exactly where they were. Time of day was a setting too, not a scheduling question: the evening mood with lit windows could be called up at any moment.

Why this works for start-ups.

Visual language

Clear communication in the frame.

A controlled environment means no visual accidents. The visual language was locked before the shoot.

Centred composition, a calm camera, the actors clearly in focus, the backdrop deliberately restrained. The red suit sets the accent; the background stays a stage.

Post-production, colour grading, sound and graphics were then handled by CreativeCinema. Short distances, fast feedback loops.

Your project

Your commercial, produced on a predictable budget.

You need several spots, variations or locations, with little time and a lean budget? That is exactly what an XR studio is built for.
